David Walliams was heard joking that he is no longer needed on Britain's Got Talent as viewers sense they he may not be feeling his "usual self".

The Little Britain star reportedly quit his role on the famous judging panel alongside his co-stars Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon.

Appearing on BGT's spin-off show The Ultimate Magician on Sunday night (December 18), which is expected to be his last appearance on the programme, David awkwardly joked that he was "surplus to requirements".

As presenter Stephen Mulhern explained the judges will not have the final say on who wins the £50,000 cash prize, comedian David was quick to add his two pence.

He said: "We're irrelevant. We're surplus to requirement," he told Stephen, before joking: "Like you are on Saturday Night Takeaway."

Meanwhile one viewer seemed to think something was "off" with David.

Taking to Twitter, they wrote: "David seems a bit off tonight not his usual self."

David has been a judge on Britain's Got Talent for ten years, but fans were left stunned when reports claimed he had decided to leave the programme.

Sharing their thoughts on his departure, a source said: "David has decided to bow out after a ten-year run.

He wants to leave on a high after a wonderful time. Being on the show has been a huge source of entertainment and joy for him and he is arguably the most popular member of the panel."

The source added that David wanted to leave the show "on a high".
