Love Island 2023 has been a wild ride for footballer Scott Van Der Sluis. From the moment he stepped foot on the show, Scott has been plagued with accusations of playing games, leaving the rest of the villa at odds with him.

In a recent confrontation with Leah Taylor, he was even labeled as undesirable. The reason behind this animosity, however, remains a baffling mystery to many watching at home.

While a handful of Islanders who were subsequently dumped had the opportunity to overlap with Scott, only a few have shed light on the puzzling feud that seems to have developed.

One of the most vocal ex-Islanders, Mal Nicol, shared her thoughts about Scott during a TikTok live session, attempting to offer some clarity as to why he might not resonate with the others.

“I don’t know why but I would say he just bites when he gets a joke taken out of him. He’s quite a biter, but that’s it.” she mused. However, she quickly acknowledged her limited knowledge, stating: “I wasn’t there, guys I don’t know.”

Mehdi Edno, in an interview with Heat magazine, claimed to have been close to Scott and described him as a reserved individual in the villa.

When questioned about Scott's feelings for Catherine Agbaje, Mehdi speculated: “People questioned Scott’s feelings, I think they were real but the fact that he expressed himself at the fire pit at this point he shot himself in the foot because he couldn’t do anything at Casa Amor because it’d be an Uno reverse card.”

Gabby Jeffery, a bombshell from Casa Amor, shared her positive impression of Scott, saying they got on well in the villa—a sentiment echoed by many other dumped Islanders.

Responding to a question about Scott on TikTok, Gabby said: “Nothing bad to say about Scott. We got along really well in there and he’s just a nice boy."

Expressing her confusion over the sudden discord, Gabby added: “I don’t know what has happened to be honest. It didn’t seem like there was anything like there was no beef going on in Casa. I didn’t think anyways.

"I really like Scott, he’s a really nice boy and I’ve got nothing bad to say about him. I don’t know what’s happened.”

Another of the Casa Amor girls, Danielle Mazhindu, posted on her Instagram Stories in response to a question from a follower: “The Scott hat is sooo long and unnecessary because he’s such a nice chill guy.”

She continued: “When we were there everyone got along with everyone, no one was ostracised, it was literally a vibe.”

The bombshell then speculated: “The only conclusion I can come up with is that something happened once the Og girls came back because it makes no sense.”

Zachary Ashford, who spent time with the girls in Casa Amor, dismissed the possibility of any behind-the-scenes drama between Scott and the villa. Responding to a follower's query about unaired interactions, Zachary stated: “Not that I know of."
