Beyond Paradise will see the start of a new chapter in the Death in Paradise universe as the first spin-off to make its debut. DI Humphrey Goodman (played by Kris Marshall) left Saint Marie in season three to be with Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton), in London. Now engaged, the couple are moving back to where she grew up, in the fictional town of Shipton Abbott where he gets a job as the local detective.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Beyond Paradise.

Beyond Paradise focuses on the lives of DI Humphrey Goodman and Martha Lloyd as they start over in Shipton Abbott with new crimes for the former to investigate.

But of course, the show is in need of a great ensemble cast, which will include none other than actor Dylan Llewellyn.

For four years, he was behind James Maguire in the award-winning comedy Derry Girls on Channel 4.

Llewellyn is also known for playing Martin ‘Jono’ Johnson in Hollyoaks, Jack in Big Boys and Wally Nightingale in Pistol on Disney+.

How old is Beyond Paradise actor Dylan Llewellyn?

Actor Dylan Llewellyn, who has now joined the cast of Beyond Paradise as PC Kelby Hartford, was born on September 10, 1992, which makes him 30 years old.

Last year, the star shared an adorable video of himself when he was a toddler with the simple caption: “It’s my birthday!”.

He received a flurry of birthday wishes from fans, and one from Great British Bake Off 2018 winner Rahul Mandal who joked: “Happy birthday!! Your cake is due, let me know whenever.”

Llewellyn didn’t post any updates on what he did for his 30th birthday, preferring to keep the special day out of the spotlight.

In Derry Girls, the actor was playing James, who is supposed to be about 16 years old, so Beyond Paradise will show him in a very different light as he portrays police officer Kelby Hartford.

Nevertheless, he is the youngest of the BBC stars, with Zahra Ahmadi, who plays DS Esther Williams, the closest in age at 41.

Actress Bretton, on the other hand, is 42 years old and Marshall will be turning 50 in a few months.

Talking to The Herald, Llewllyn described how he had to get used to doing more physical scenes when it comes to hunting down criminals in the show.

He explained: “It’s quite new for me, doing action scenes like that – and it was so much fun.

“Growing up watching cinema and action films, I’m like, ‘Oh, that looks so much fun’ – and to actually do it… it was a real blast. But very, very tiring.

“I had a lot of cramps in my thighs and stuff. I was like, ‘Give me one more minute! Give me one more minute!’

“They kept having to give me a little time out to catch my breath. But no, it was so much fun.”

Humphrey and Martha were expecting a quieter lifestyle when they moved to the stunning Shipton Abbott.

However, this tranquility is soon dashed as the town is hit by a crime wave and Humphrey is expected to catch all those who are responsible.

The first episode is going to see him and the team look into a suspect that’s a “17th Century witch”.

Beyond Paradise starts on Friday, February 24, at 8pm on BBC One.
