EastEnders fans amazed by Amy Mitchell stars age as she hits big birthday

EastEnders fans have been gobsmacked to learn the real age of actress Ellie Dadd who plays Amy Mitchell in the BBC soap.

Ellie has played Amy, Roxy Mitchell and Jack Branning's daughter, since 2022 after taking over from previous actress Amy Burke.

Whilst Amy is just 14, almost 15 on Albert Square, actress Ellie has just hit a milestone birthday as she's turned 18.

Celebrating her coming of age, Amy shared a series of snaps from her 18th birthday celebrations on Instagram and EastEnders fans have been left shocked at her true age.

Racing into the Instagram comments, keen soap fans wished the young actress a happy birthday but some couldn't help but comment on her real age.

One fan commented on her post: "Happy Birthday wow the big 18. Still, see you as young Amy in Eastenders you're a fantastic actress."

Another added: "Wow wouldn’t have thought that xx."

"Same that’s crazy," replied another.

In the snaps Ellie posed for the camera as she looked glamorous in a white dress and heels, with her long hair falling down in loose waves.

The birthday revelation comes as Ellie's acting career is hotting up amid a difficult storyline for Amy Mitchell.

Young teen Amy Mitchell has been battling mental health issues which have led to self harming, which is causing sleepless nights and worries for her father Jack Branning.

Alongside this, Amy's younger brother Ricky Michell shocked viewers after he was outed as the father of 12-year-old Lily Slater's baby.

In scenes viewers have yet to see, Amy may yet still find out that her stepmother Denise Fox cheated on her dad Jack Branning with another man, Ravi Gulati.

It's not been smooth sailing for poor Amy, as last year she was bullied at school which led to the teenager harming herself as a way to cope.

The character also tragically lost her mother Roxy in dramatic New Year's Eve scenes in 2017, with Roxy drowning in a pool after suffering a heart attack after drug use.

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
