EastEnders fans spot sad clue to Lola's death storyline in episode

EastEnders fans reckon they have clocked a reference to Lola Pearce’s (Danielle Harold) tragic death storyline.

A recent episode of the BBC One soap saw Lola complain about having a headache, which some viewers thought was the beginning of the character’s exit storyline.

Danielle, who has played Lola across various stints, is set to depart the long-running serial drama in upcoming scenes, with reports suggesting that her character would die from a brain tumour.

‘Lola saying she has a headache,’ wrote one fan on Twitter, making reference to her throwaway line of dialogue. ‘this story is gonna be devastating, I really hope they don’t rush it.’

Another social media user said of the headache reference: ‘i know its just a saying but the fact lola’s headache could be something else.’

One more viewer asked if the show was ‘trying to hint’ that Lola’s storyline was coming up ‘very shortly’ with the line.

Reports surfaced in June claiming that Lola would be killed off in a hard-hitting storyline that would see her diagnosed with a brain tumour.

While the brain tumour storyline has yet to be addressed, Danielle’s departure was later confirmed when five EastEnders characters, including Lola, were axed from the show as part of a major shake-up behind the scenes.

In the meantime, Lola will be at the centre of intense scenes this week, as she gets caught up in a siege at Peggy’s in a case of mistaken identity.

Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick), meanwhile, will tell Lola that she is the love of his life, but will passion ensue before her final scenes?

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
