EastEnders fans work out Mick Carters whereabouts in new Danny Dyer video

EastEnders viewers have joked Mick Carter is "back from the dead", and that his whereabouts have finally been revealed after a new video starring soap star Danny Dyer was released.

Fans were left in shock as last year's Christmas episode of EastEnders saw Danny's character Mick trying to save his ex-wife Linda Carter, who he had just reunited with, after she and Janine Butcher drove off a cliff and into the English Channel, where he disappeared at sea.

Mick is currently presumed dead and lost at sea, while no body has been found but the search has been called off.

Fans of the character and the BBC soap have now joked that Mick is "alive" after seeing a new trailer for Danny Dyer's upcoming role in new Channel 5 drama called Heat.

As the channel released a dark new trailer for the new series on their Twitter, EastEnders fans couldn't help but joke about the fact Mick is "back".

Noticing that the series was filmed in Australia, fans quickly joked that this was Mick's whereabouts and that he probably swam there after his final scenes.

In the clip, Danny's character is also heard asking where his wife is and viewers were quick to bring up Mick's wife Linda.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer said: "Woah i can’t believe he swam all the way to Australia."

Another agreed: "Gawd, he's in Australia? must've been a hard swim x."

A third viewer said: "'WHERE’S MY WIFE' omg micks memory has come back sooner than we all thought."

The comments kept on coming too, with another reading: "Your wife is in Walford mate," as a fifth said: "She’s in The Vic waiting for you…?"

A sixth viewer joked: "Mick’s 'back from the dead'."

It comes after Danny teased a possible return to the show in an interview on the Jonathan Ross show this week.

Danny, who is about to become a grandfather for a second time, admitted to the talk show host: “I do miss the people there, there’s no two ways about it but it’s a new chapter for me.”

After Jonathan pointed out his character’s body was never seen, so he could return, Danny said: “If it goes t**s up I can go back. I can turn up in three years’ time, walk in the Queen Vic smothered in seaweed…

“They wanted to keep it open. I’m very privileged and grateful for that job. It really did change my career and my life.”

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
