EastEnders Max Branning return teased as Jake Wood tells fans ‘never say never’

EastEnders bad boy Max Branning could be about to make a sensational return to Walford.

The Walford love cheat, played by Jake Woods, left Albert Square for the final time earlier this year following an explosive storyline.

Jake was quizzed by eager soap fans if he'd ever return to the BBC One soap while opening a bingo hall in Worcester over the weekend.

The actor said: "I've got no plans to at the moment, but you never say never.

"They’ve kept the door open for me – apparently I’ve got a little baby I’ve not seen yet. You never know."

Max sealed his exit when he revealed Mick’ Carter's (Danny Dyer) abuse hell to Linda Carter Kellie Bright) – and almost the entire pub – and accused her of staying with him out of pity.

A frustrated Mick violently lashed out at his love rival Max and flung him halfway across the room, before threatening to kill him.

In front of the pub, Mick warned Max: "Come near my wife again and I’ll kill you."

Fans expressed their delight at the prospect of seeing Max storm back to Walford despite Linda begging him to stay away.

One fan said: "I have always loved Max, he’s a rough diamond but always with a heart of gold.

"I was gutted when he left the show but the prospect of him coming back is just amazing. I think it’d make unmissable telly."

Another added: "Please please bring Max back, he was such a good character.

"I don’t think he’d hint at coming back if he didn’t plan too. Can’t wait to see what the writers have in store for him."

Max's daughter Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) will return to Walford in upcoming scenes for Dot Branning's (June Brown) funeral.

Residents were notified by Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) earlier this week that Dot had sadly died.

Lauren is one of several former mainstays set to stage a comeback for the character’s heartfelt farewell episodes, arriving back in Walford on the morning of the funeral, before reminiscing about Dot with family and friends.

After Dot’s heartfelt goodbye, Lauren makes a beeline to the Vic, where she proceeds to give Linda a piece of her mind over "breaking Max’s heart".

Wiill Lauren discover the truth about Annie’s parentage? If so, could this lead to Max finding out that he has another daughter in the Square?
