EastEnders Michelle Fowler actress Susan Tully looks unrecognisable 27 years after soap in new career | The Sun

EASTENDERS' Michelle Fowler actress Susan Tully looks completely unrecognisable after forging a successful career away from the soap.

The London-born star, now 55, starred as the single mum character for a decade.

Susan penned her EastEnders soap deal as a teen – at the age of 17 – and quit aged 27, in 1995.

Her character opted to follow dreams of a new life in America with daughter Vicki, after discovering she was pregnant with Grant Mitchell's baby.

During her decade on the soap, the ex Grange Hill actress was at the heart of a number of controversial storylines including Vicki's kidnap as well as a shooting.

Michelle's character made an Albert Square return in 2017 – but without Susan as the face.

At the time, soap fans were outraged at another actress taking on Susan's former role.

However, new Michelle's comeback was short-lived, with bosses cutting the character just 14 months after her return.

After her time in front of the camera, Susan chose to spend the rest of her career behind it.

And her star has a new look to match her new line of work.

Susan's short brunette hairstyle, complete with a fringe, has been switched for a sleek, poker straight bob.

A recent snap saw Susan sporting a smart-casual work outfit of a crisp white T-Shirt and dungarees.

Her incredible new career has seen her produce and direct many TV shows including Stella, Strike and Secret Diary of a Call Girl.

Millions have watched her work as a director on episodes of Line of Duty.

And most recently she directed the ITV thriller Too Close.

However she has made it clear that a return to acting isn't in her future, and so soap fans will not see her play Michelle again.
