Emmerdale boss reveals killer storm will shatter lives forever – and means it

Emmerdale village is heading into its 50th year, but show boss Kate Brooks has revealed that it won’t come out the other side the same.

It has been announced that a killer wind storm will be at the centre of the drama during the anniversary week, and is set to ‘leave an absolutely massive trail of destruction in its wake’.

‘Some of our best-loved villagers will be in peril and it’s safe to say that literally the village won’t be the same after this,’ Kate explained to Metro.co.uk.

There won’t be a single person safe during this storm, which means that anyone could be on the chopping block. Kate was very serious as she pointed out the repercussions of the storm.

‘It’ll never be the same again because the impact the storm has on people’s lives is massive.’

Emmerdale has been rocked by storms in the past, with one taking the life of Tricia Dingle (Sheree Murphy) and another marking the 41st anniversary in 2013. However, we have been assured that this year’s storm will be completely different, with wide-ranging consequences.

‘The storm will feel incredibly different and it involves so many of our families. It’s not just a storm that affects one small group, it affects the entire village so I think it will feel different.’ Producer, Jane Hudson teased.

‘I think one element in particular will feel different. It’s an element that, trust me, nobody’s done and no other soap could do it apart from Emmerdale, because of where we are. That’s a hint for you all.’

Kate went on to explain the scale of the project they’ve chosen to undertake.

‘In terms of filming it’s quite unprecedented in terms of scale. There are elements of the big storm week that I’ve not seen on a soap drama before and it’s very exciting/nerve-wracking to be part of that.’

With the countdown to October and the 50th beginning, who’s days are numbered?
