Emmerdale spoilers for April 17 2023: Samson learns of Amelia's cancer scare

With Amelia (Daisy Campbell) in the midst of a cancer scare in Monday’s episode, Noah (Jack Downham) tries to reassure her that the lump she has found probably isn’t cancerous. However Amelia worries that Esther will be left with Samson (Sam Hall) if anything happens to her.

Noah tells her that he still wants to be with her, leaving Amelia overwhelmed and unsure of her feelings.

Noah later gives in to Lydia’s questioning and tells her about Amelia’s lump, leaving Lydia angry at how Samson responded.

He refuses to take the blame for Amelia’s upset and storms upstairs – but Sam follows him and is sympathetic to his situation, realising that Amelia’s ordeal has triggered the loss of his own mother.

Samson is worried for Esther but admits that he still can’t be the dad Sam has been to him – although Sam is determined to support his son.

Meanwhile Noah is thrilled when Amelia admits she’s missed him, and admits she wants them to get back together.

Elsewhere Chas (Lucy Pargeter) is taken aback when Paddy (Dominic Brunt) tells her he’s been in touch with a solicitor about the divorce.

He explains that he doesn’t see the use in prolonging things and asks Chas if she’d like to make a joint divorce application.

And Bernice (Samantha Giles) is shocked to hear some home truths from Nicola, suggesting her menopause group is dull.

Her interest is piqued, however, when Bernice decides on an art class for the next meeting.
