Emmerdale's Marlon weeps over Tricia as he fears Rhona will die the same way

Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) is worried sick about wife Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) in Emmerdale, after she disappeared amid a raging storm.

The eponymous village, as viewers know, has been utterly destroyed by a inclement weather, which has already claimed the life of Harriet Finch (Katherine Dow Blyton).

Tuesday’s (October 18) edition of the ITV soap dealt with the fallout of the previous, as a number of the show’s residents congregated in the pub for shelter.

Mary (Louise Jameson), however, was soon horrified to learn that Marlon was home alone, and thus set off to be with him.

Marlon was seen taking shelter on the floor as the intense thunder and lightening could be heard outside, and he opened up to his mother-in-law, revealing that he’s worried sick about Rhona, who hadn’t returned home.

Mary offered him comfort, as he explained that the storm is reminiscent of the one that claimed his first wife, Tricia (Sheree Murphy).

Tricia, as longtime fans will recall, met her demise in early 2004, when a similar storm caused chaos in the village, with bolts of lightening striking both a tree and The Woolpack.

Tricia subsequently died in hospital.

Will Rhona meet a similar fate? Or is there a perfectly reasonable explanation for her disappearance?

Mandy (Lisa Riley), meanwhile, reminisced too, telling son Vinny (Bradley Johnson) that the last time a storm arrived in the village, ‘really bad things happened.’

Bernice was similarly concerned about ‘bad things’ being a foot, also making reference to the 2004 disaster, while Diane Sugden (Elizabeth Estensen) recalled Cameron’s (Dominic Power) siege of the pub.

Charity (Emma Atkins) discussed the previous storm as well, telling Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles) that at least this time they know that the chimney of the Woolpack ‘is on tight’.

The 2004 storm famously saw the chimney of the Woolpack collapse.

Emmerdale continues Wednesday October 19 at 7:30pm on ITV.
