Find out why Emmerdale is not on ITV tonight

Whether your soap destination of choice is EastEnders’ Albert Square, Coronation Street or the not-so-quiet village of Emmerdale, you never want to miss a moment of the action throughout the week.

Sadly, however, shifting schedules meant that sometimes you have to wait a little longer to find out what happens next after the previous night’s cliffhanger, and that’s the case with Emmerdale this evening.

So, those looking to tune into ITV tonight for the latest slice of Yorkshire life will be sorely disappointed.

Here’s why you won’t find Emmerdale on the TV tonight, as well as when to expect the show back…

Why is Emmerdale not on tonight?

As is usually the case when soaps leave the schedule, you can blame sports – and in this case, you can blame football specifically.

Tonight – Tuesday, September 6 – Emmerdale will be replaced by a World Cup qualifier for the Women’s 2023 World Cup.

Recent Euro 2022 champions England will be taking on Luxembourg in their last World Cup qualifier.

Coverage begins from 7pm, with kick-off at 7.30pm, leaving no room for Emmerdale.

Fret not, soap fans, Emmerdale shall resume normal programming from tomorrow night – Wednesday, September 7 at 7.30pm.

It will continue on Thursday, September 8 with the usual one-hour episode.

An hour-long episode will also air on Friday, September 9 to make up for losing Tuesday night’s slot.

So don’t worry, there is still plenty of Emmerdale to enjoy this week.

Emmerdale will be back on ITV Wednesday night at 7.30pm
