Gethin Jones says he was ‘robbed’ of Strictly win as Sally Nugent hints new show

Morning Live presenter Gethin Jones argued he was “robbed” of the glitterball trophy on Strictly Come Dancing after Alesha Dixon beat him to the post.

The Welsh heartthrob appeared on the beloved BBC One dance competition back in 2007 where he was partnered up with his professional dancer Camilla Dallerup.

As the TV presenter introduced the upcoming show, BBC bosses couldn’t help but throw up a clip of Alesha Dixon performing alongside her pro dance partner Matthew Cutler who went on the win the fifth series.

And his co-host Michelle Ackerley was quick to point out his disappointing loss on the show as she poked fun at him alongside BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent.

While discussing the upcoming segments on the hour-long show, the brunette beauty poked fun at her fellow presenter on air.

She said: “We continue to look at some former winner’s week one dances – that was your year wasn’t it Gethin?”

Already feeling embarrassed, Gethin complained: “Sally they’re doing this on purpose, they’re bringing back the past from 2007.

“I came third, okay? I came third, but how could you not to Alesha Dixon? She was incredible I’ll be trying her moves later.

“Fuming, I was robbed. I was robbed, Sal and you know it,” he sulked.

It was at this point that Sally turned on the morning presenter as she argued that he loved the opportunity to show off more of his dancing moves from his time on Strictly.

She quipped: “Don’t say they’re doing it on purpose, you’re loving it Geth. No it’s your own idea.

“Every day you’re saying, ‘More me on Strictly’ I know you are.”

It was at this point that Sally took a cheeky swipe at her co-star as she poked fun at his televised loss on air.

She joked: “You could do a new series, Strictly but not quite winners,” which was welcomed with shocked faces as Gethin’s jaw dropped to the floor.

Furious with her slating comment he ordered her to “just go” as he recovered from her scathing dig in the studio.
