Lorraine Kelly was left blushing after Good Morning Britain host Ben Shephard said she sounded like “Marge Simpson’s sister” while cheekily admitting he “enjoys it".

The 63-year-old Scottish star’s morning show was thrown into chaos on Thursday (March 16) after she lost her voice on-air.

As a result, an ITV favourite being there on stand-by – with Lorraine soldiering on and cracking on with the show.

And during Friday’s episode of Good Morning Britain (March 17) hosts Ben and Garraway checked in to see how Lorraine was doing as she gave an update on her health.

“I’m a little bit nervous to talk to her, I don’t want to do anything to jeopardise your voice,” said Kate.

Ben then cheekily quipped with a smirk on his face: “I’m going to be honest Lorraine, I quite enjoyed it.”

“Did you?” Lorraine quizzed back, still sounding rather croaky.

“Yeah there was a little bit of something there,” he added.

“I’ve gone all deep and weird and strange,” Lorraine explained, to which Ben fired back: “You sound like Marge Simpson’s sisters.”

Before giggling along with Ben and Kate, Lorraine quipped: “Oh yes I do.”

Lorraine was forced to make changes to her show yet again due to her health on Thursday.

After struggling with a bad throat, she had to hold up a sign after being unable to talk and asked Dr Hilary Jones for help.

The message read: "I've lost my voice, Hilary can you take over?"

Luckily, show regular Dr Hilary was on hand to help and let the audience know what was coming up.

It comes as last month, Lorraine was sent home from work moments before going live on air after battling a nasty bug.

As a result, fellow ITV favourite Ranvir Singh filled in for Lorraine with almost no notice.

At the time, Kate Garraway and Ed Balls said it was the first time in a long time, maybe even ever, that Lorraine had missed her show.
