GMB fans call Gordon Smart a breath of fresh air as they swoon over his Scottish accent

Good Morning Britain viewers have branded new host Gordon Smart "a breath of fresh air" as they gushed over his "beautiful" Scottish accent.

Journalist and broadcaster Gordon, 42, who recently shared a peak into his life off screen with his stunning wife, joined the ITV crew on Thursday 29 December.

Now, entering into his second day on the programme sitting alongside Charlotte Hawkins, 47, fans have been left swooning over the star and have called for bosses to make him a permanent fixture.

"@GMB please tell me @gordonsmart is in for the long haul? Such a breath of fresh air! And doesn't want to wake up to that beautiful accent every day?!," one person wrote on Twitter, followed by a heart eyes emoji.

Another chimed: "Great to see a new fresh face on morning tv!! A good addition to the show! Hope you’re here to stay!"

A third shared: "Great chemistry already with Charlotte, I really am enjoying Gordons presenting. I hope he will get a regular slot. Well done."

"Hopefully @GMB will be making you a permanent member of the team. Great presenter," a fourth commented, while a fifth questioned: "The future of GMB ?"

Sharing his "first stay of school" nerves yesterday during his first segment on the show, Gordon told viewers: "It’s been very surreal the past three years sitting in my pants watching this show and here I am watching you.

"I feel like I’ve had the right experience to be here sitting beside you.

"[I’ve been] working in newspapers a long time in the entertainment beat and then politics in Scotland and then a bit of time in radio for the last five years doing music, then politics recently.

"So, I’ve set myself up for a huge fall, Charlotte… but it’s great to be beside you."

Gordon's time on the programme was announced earlier this week and the presenter shared his excitement over the news at the time.

Posting a photo of himself on set to Instagram, Gordon wrote: “Looking forward to making my debut hosting @gmb this Thursday and Friday with @charlottehawkins1 @itv

“Told my dad about the new gig and he said ‘better get a spray tan, son.’ Good. See you bright and early at 6am, 29th and 30th December. Good Morning Britain!”

In a statement, he also added: "I'm thrilled to be joining the amazing stable of talent, in front and behind the camera, on Good Morning Britain.

"So many of the issues facing the country right now are close to home and I’m relishing the chance to join the debate.”
