Boxing coach Marcus Luther and hair salon owner Mica Ven, from London, have been Gogglebox regulars for the past five years. However, they have issued a statement confirming they have quit the popular Channel 4 programme to see “what else God has in store” for them.

In a statement, they said: “We’ve had so much fun with you all tuning in at home and the hardworking Gogglebox crew’s but it’s time to put down the remote and see what else God has in store for us.

“To everyone that has tuned in & sent us messages of love and encouragement over the years, we appreciate every last one of you. Thank you so much.”

The statement added: “We just want to say a massive thank you to @c4Gogglebox for having us for the last five years, even though we had to travel so far for filming (downstairs and through the corridor) it was so worth it, it’s been an epic journey!

The statement added: “We just want to say a massive thank you to @c4Gogglebox for having us for the last five years, even though we had to travel so far for filming (downstairs and through the corridor) it was so worth it, it’s been an epic journey!

“You guys are the best of the best.”

The pair went on to call the cast their “brothers and sisters for life” in the lengthy post.

Fans have flocked to Instagram to comment on the couple’s post as have cast members.

Longtime Gogglebox star Izzi Warner penned: “We’ll miss you both.”

Yvonne shared: “I will definitely miss you guys! The jokes were real, but more than that the beautiful connection between both of you was so heartwarming.

“Wishing you the very best of luck, success and happiness in your next chapter.”

Christie commented: “No. Gogglebox won’t be the same without you. Wishing you all the best for the future.”

Nadia added: “This is really sad news!! We will miss you badly. Wishing you all the very best for your future project.” (sic)

Producers of the Channel 4 programme are likely to need to find new stars in time for the next series.

Marcus previously told the BBC: “I’m known for Gogglebox but now people will see that I’m not just about sitting on the sofa. I’m about boxing and have been for years.”

The couple share a son, Yasha, and Mica has two daughters from a previous relationship called Shuggy and Sachelle.

Marcus also has a son from a previous relationship called Shiloh Defreitas.

Explaining how their first date went, Mica once shared: “He turned up to mine one night to do Bible study with a bottle of wine. We were sitting opposite each other and I’m thinking ‘Footsy? Wine?'”

Longstanding Gogglebox stars Mary Killen and her husband Giles Wood have had offers to take part in other shows, but they have turned them down.

Mary said: “We have been offered other shows. But we’re quite happy with Gogglebox.”

Gogglebox episodes are available to stream on All4.
