Good Morning Britain fans slam ‘appalling’ Ed Balls over ‘car crash’ interview
GMB guest asks Ed Balls to let her explain reasoning
On Monday’s instalment of Good Morning Britain, the ITV hosts were speaking to Kathleen Stock who’s exploring the question “What is a woman?” in a new documentary this week.
The Channel 4 special, titled Gender Wars, will delve into the meaning of sex and gender and feature the professor who has caused controversy in the past with her views on the subject.
Having quit her role at the University of Sussex two years ago after accusations of transphobia, Good Morning Britain’s Ed Balls decided to question her opinions.
He questioned: “Is it not possible, in your view, for somebody who was a man, to become as they would describe it, a woman?”
Kathleen replied: “No, you can’t change sex. It’s not biologically possible. Womanhood, I would say is entirely predicated on sex, there’s no other good way of doing it-”

Interrupting, Ed commented: “A lot of people would say that’s an extreme view.”
Realising the host was talking over her, Kathleen added: “Well if you’d let me explain my reasoning.”
As the professor tried to articulate her opinions on the topic, Ed continued to speak over her answers which didn’t go unnoticed by viewers.
It wasn’t long before people took to Twitter to slam Ed for how he conducted the interview with many slamming his constant interruptions.

During the interview, Kathleen made it clear she supports transgender people being protected by law and has no ambition to argue against the Equality or Gender Recognition Act.
However, she explained to hosts Ed and Charlotte Hawkins: “I think we need words to describe the differences between males and females because they matter socially across all sorts of domains.”
