Good Morning Britain's Richard Madeley reveals his 'real voice' and why he had to change his accent | The Sun

RICHARD Madeley revealed his real voice for the first time on Good Morning Britain today.

The 67-year-old admitted he does in fact have an Essex accent but was forced to tone it down by his very strict father.

During a debate about if accents can affect your chances of getting a job, Richard left his co-host Susanna Reid gobsmacked as he chatted in his old voice.

He explained: “I upgraded mine because my dad was a public school educated guy and at home in Romford, if I spoke like I spoke in the playground -honestly this is how I spoke-  Dad would give me a clip around the ear and say don’t drop your h’s.

“So it was parental pressure.”

Richard was born in Romford and went to school in Brentwood, which are both filming locations for Towie.
