Line of Duty star Vicky McClure’s new series Trigger Point took the trophy for Best New Drama at the National Television Awards on Thursday. Although the category was stacked with worthy contenders this year, hundreds of viewers were disappointed when Netflix’s latest fan-favourite high school romance Heartstopper lost out on the award.
A legion of Heartstopper fans have taken to Twitter to complain about the series losing out on an NTA trophy.
This year’s nominees also included hospital drama This Is Going to Hurt and Sean Bean drama Time.
However, new thriller Trigger Point took the win, and was met by an outcry from disappointed Heartstopper fans.
@Scotthopper1 tweeted: “Trigger Point over Heartstopper? Did blind people decide this? Trigger Point was absolute dog s**t.”
