Holly Willoughby ‘joined by two presenters’ in latest This Morning shake-up
As Holly Willoughby prepares to return to the This Morning sofa next week, it has now been reported that there will be not one, but two presenters joining her in place of Phillip Schofield.
Holly has been away from the show since last month, and since then it has been announced that her co-host, Phillip Schofield would be stepping down from his role after 21 years.
She will return to screens on Monday June 5 after an extended half-term break, where she was seen enjoying a holiday with her family.
And along with Holly’s return, it’s believed that she’ll be joined by two other presenters.
On Friday, it was announced she’d share the sofa with fellow presenter, Josie Gibson, who regularly steps in when the main hosts aren’t available.
As well as the bubbly Josie, it’s also been reported that Craig Doyle will host alongside Holly during Wednesday’s and Thursday’s episodes.
In terms of Friday’s show, everything is set to be back to normal, with Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary resuming their regular end of week shift.
“Josie's bubbly personality is just what the show needs to bounce back from a nightmare few weeks,” a source told The Sun.
“She's larger than life and will ease the pressure on Holly, who viewers will be glued to after the loss of her long time telly partner.”
They also touched on relief presenter Craig, who used to work as an investigative reporter on ITV’s other morning show, Lorraine.
According to the source, his addition to the presenting team this week could suggest that a more permanent role is on the horizon.
Explaining that “viewers have taken to him straight away,” they also jested that he’s easy on the eye and a “natural in front of the camera.”
Of course, it’s been a very turbulent time for Holly as of late, who paid tribute to Phil in an emotional statement following his This Morning departure.
Taking to Instagram, she shared: “It's been over 13 great years presenting This Morning with Phil and I want to take this opportunity to thank him for all of his knowledge, his experience and his humour. The sofa won't feel the same without him."
However, she has since aired her upset that Phillip 'lied' to her about his affair with the younger staff member.
After Phil admitted to the affair, Holly posted on her Instagram account: “It's taken time to process yesterday's news. When reports of this relationship first surfaced, I asked Phil directly if this was true and was told it was not. It's been very hurtful to now find out that this was a lie. Holly."
