Hollyoaks newcomer Dillon stars life – CBBC role to hidden talent

The Maalik family got a huge surprise in tonight's Hollyoaks (April 20, 2023), when Misbah's nephew Dillon Ray turned up unexpectedly.

The teenager soon made himself at home, but after revealing that he had been expelled from school and kicked out of his mum's house, it seems that Dillon could be planning to stick around in the village for a while yet.

Fans of the popular Channel 4 soap might recognise Dillon actor Nathaniel Dass from another huge TV role though, after the 20-year old rose to fame as a teen star.

Nathaniel played Nate in CBBC comedy drama Almost Never between 2019 to 2021.

The series followed music group Wonderland as they sought fame and fortune – all while juggling their day to day lives, including family responsibilities and romance.

Nathaniel starred alongside Fabio (played by Luke Featherstone) and Harry (played by Harry Still) in the programme – and looks worlds away from his Hollyoaks counterpart.

His Almost Never character could regularly be seen sporting a leather jacket and dark, swept back hair in a fifties style, unlike his Hollyoaks character Dillon Ray who sports much longer brunette locks.

However like his Almost Never character, Nathaniel is an accomplished musician off-screen too.

Alongside Almost Never, Nathaniel made appearances on children's TV show Saturday Mash Up, before going on to land his role in Hollyoaks.

His soap counterpart Dillon Ray has been described as cool and confident, but with a hidden sensitivity underneath – and with the potential to get into a little bit of trouble with a few of the village residents.

He is set to interact with fellow characters including Lucas Hay, Leah Barnes and Shing Lin Leong, with viewers eager to see what is in store for the newcomer.

Speaking about joining the soap, Nathaniel said in a statement: "I’m so happy to have been welcomed into the Hollyoaks family.

"Everyone here is amazing and I’ve had the best time so far, especially with my new family, the Maaliks."

He continued: "I’m super excited for people to see what’s in store for my character Dillon.

"He’s got a lot about him so it’s going to be fun seeing what kind of trouble he gets into, who he’ll become friends with and if there’s maybe a few potential romances, you’ll have to see."
