TWELVE people including three children have been rushed to hospital after an "electrical fire" on a quiet street.
Police, firefighters, paramedics and engineers were scrambled to Normacot in Stoke-On-Trent, Staffordshire, today.
Four homes had to be evacuated after the fire started in an electrical box near their houses.
West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed nine adults and three children were taken to hospital with smoke inhalation.
There is no update on their condition, Stoke Sentinel reports.
A further four adults and seven children were assessed at the scene but did not require further treatment.
Horrified locals told how their electricity cut off and they experienced a "horrible smell".
One resident, Louise Evetts, said: "The electricity went out between 12.30am and 1am. I opened the door and smelt this horrible smell.
"The police were on the road and I saw smoke. I don’t know what happened.
“The upstairs lights were flickering, I thought I had a ghost in the room!”

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said the four homes were evacuated due to "carbon monoxide readings".
