Im A Celeb episode 4 – Matt Hancocks confession to being grilled by co-stars

I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! fans were finally shown Matt Hancock’s entrance into the jungle and were not disappointed.

The politician was subject to insects in a small confined space as he took part in a trial with co-star Seann Walsh.

The episode began as the comedian entered the jungle on his own and read a sign above his campsite that read “Mole Headquarters”.

He was soon joined by former health secretary Matt Hancock as he made his way over the rope bridge.

Walsh was left in tears as he realised who had arrived in camp and couldn’t get over the fact that the politician was his only friend so far.

Matt tried to bond with Seann over their love of music and quickly began singing Ed Sheeran’s Perfect, which left many fans cringing.

Viewers turned to Twitter to complain about his “singing” and were shocked at Hancock’s attempt.

One wrote: “Omg Matt Hancock is ‘singing’ on my TV and my whole body has gone rigid with horror.”

Another typed: “Why did I just have to listen to Matt Hancock singing Ed Sheeran on [my] telly.”

The duo later joined their campmates after their “mole” tasks and Chris Moyles was left gobsmacked at Hancock’s appearance.

Boy George laughed at the politician and warned him that he was “really going to get it” while on the show, before Scarlette Douglas demanded to know “why he decided to come in”.

Hancock replied: “Why? Because all politicians are known – and me in particular – for being in a very, sort of, strict way of being. Which is just not actually how we are.”

Douglas asked “how,” to which Hancock said that he was “more human than that”.

Sue Cleaver jokingly called him “a brave man” and Matt simply admitted that he would “see how it goes”.

Scarlette’s advice was to simply “be his authentic self” and later on she told the camera that “everyone is human”.

She defended Matt’s “reason for being there” and explained that “we all have our personalities outside of what we are seen in the media”.

However, she may have made a slight dig at the politician as she told viewers he “has something to prove” and “everyone has their own reasons as to why they’re here”.

Elsewhere, Boy George was dealing with his own issues with Matt Hancock as the star became teary eyed following his entrance.

He told A Place In The Sun presenter Scarlette Douglas during Wednesday's (November 9) show: "You know, beginning of the pandemic my mum was in hospital.

"I was tweeting Greenwich Hospital going, ‘Please look after my mum.’ I used my name, I was like ‘Please look after my mum.’ And they did, she was fine… I feel like, I don’t want to be sitting here like I’m having fun with him."

George explained that had his mother passed, he would have walked out the moment Matt stepped foot in the jungle – and it seems it's something he could still be dealing with.

But will he stay or will he go?
