Jai unleashes fury as his mum returns in Emmerdale – played by EastEnders icon
There’s nothing like an unexpected parental arrival in Emmerdale (take Claudette, for one!), and for Jai (Chris Bisson), it’s rubbing salt in the wounds having just learned he’s adopted.
Mums don’t need an invite as far as Georgia – played by Lin Blakely, who portrayed Pam in EastEnders – is concerned, and she arrives in a cab unannounced, much to Jai’s absolute fury. Without giving her time to grab her bags he demands she get back in the cab and go home. But Georgia is not deterred that easily.
Later, after a few drinks and feeling bold, Rishi (Bhasker Patel) decides it’s the right moment to confront Jai. As he does so, he bumps into Georgia. Unfortunately for everyone involved, foot-in-mouth Rishi makes everything worse by blurting out a secret of Georgia’s – that she had an abortion in the past. No one is amused, least of all Georgia.
The day of the wedding arrives, and Jai’s mind is far from his family drama as Laurel dazzles him with her stunning wedding attire. But their high is short lived when Jai’s unwanted parents arrive. And there’s another bombshell for Rishi to drop – the identity of Jai’s real father. That wasn’t on the wedding gift list.
Tensions rise and arguments ensue thanks to Rishi’s ham-fisted approach, and Rishi storms out.
While Georgia remains at the wedding. Rishi is nowhere to be seen. In reality, he is at home listening to Georgia’s message begging him to attend the wedding, but he ignores it.
Instead, Jai is left to say I Do without his dad in presence with the news of his biological father swirling in his mind.
Can Georgia help fix her son’s relationship with his dad or is it too late? Is Rishi about to do something daft?
‘On paper things always look a bit brighter, don’t they, but you’re never really busy in a soap unless your character’s miserable [laughs] or something’s going wrong. So there’s plenty of Sharma drama to come’, Chris Bisson teased.
‘He is feeling excited about the wedding and he’s also feeling anxious. He’s wondering whether his dad will actually turn up to see him get married, which he desperately wants.’
