James May has stated he wouldn’t go ahead with continuing The Grand Tour without Jeremy Clarkson by his side.
Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May have been an iconic trio since 2002 when they first appeared on BBC’s Top Gear together.
They then switched channels, moving over to Amazon Prime Video with The Grand Tour in 2016 but it seems the show’s shelf life will soon expire.
It was reported earlier this year that Prime Video was cutting ties with Clarkson, 63, after his controversial article about Meghan Markle.
He made a reference to the “shame” scene in Game of Thrones before the article was removed from The Sun’s website and Clarkson had to make a public apology.
Variety reported that Prime Video would no longer be working with him beyond the current seasons of The Grand Tour and Clarkson’s Farm that have already been commissioned.
This means he will remain on screens in one way or another until 2025 but his co-star James May has hinted that The Grand Tour won’t go on without him.
“I don’t think anybody would want to see it,” May told LADbible.
“I don’t think they’d want to see any two of us try and carry on the thing that the three of us are known for together.”

May continued: “I doubt it. To be honest, I think the really difficult bit in TV, films, showbiz, you know, all that stuff is, is knowing when to stop. And most people don’t.
“Most people keep going until they fly into a cliff…what you should try and do is land it and walk away. And I hope we can do that.
“It just wouldn’t be as good [if we carried on for too much longer], to be honest.
“So, quit while you’re ahead. If indeed, we are ahead.”

The end may be in sight for The Grand Tour but there are still a few specials on the horizon.
The Grand Tour: Eurocrash will once again see Clarkson, May and Hammond team up as they travel through Eastern Europe.
Starting in Gdansk, Poland, the trio will be making the 1,400-mile journey through Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia.
