Jennifer Coolidge shows support for the WGA Writers strike
Actress Jennifer Coolidge showed her support for the ongoing WGA writers’ strike as she accepted the Comedic Genius award at the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards 2023.
During her acceptance speech, the star declared that she stands “side-by-side with the WGA” after the ceremony was thrown into chaos amid the ongoing writers’ strike.
Speaking during a pre-recorded clip, Jennifer began: “Thank you. Thank you MTV. Thank you for honouring me with this incredible Comedic Genius Award. Wow.”
Then later on in her speech, the Legally Blonde star said: “Almost all great comedy starts with great writers,
“I just think as a proud member of SAG, I stand here before you tonight side-by-side with my sisters and brothers from the WGA that are fighting right now, fighting for the rights of artists everywhere,“ The White Lotus star added.
Jennifer continued: “I think of the words of Shakespeare where he once said, you know, ‘the play is the thing’.
“Well, I don’t want to put words in his mouth or anything but I think what he really meant was it’s everything!” she exclaimed.
The actress then finished off her acceptance speech by pumping her popcorn-shaped award up in the air as she grooved to House of Pain’s hit song, Jump Around.

The Watcher star also took home the award for the Most Frightened Performance, for her role in The White Lotus.
In her acceptance speech, the actress could be seen hilariously snacking on some popcorn, as the cameraman handed her another award.
“Oh my gosh, another popcorn. Jeez, thank you,” Jennifer said, as she thanked MTV for her second award of the night.
