The much-anticipated Coronation of King Charles III has kicked off in earnest, and famous faces from across the realm of television and entertainment have been spotted.

Singer Katy Perry was among them and was caught on BBC coverage taking her seat for the service.

The 38-year-old donned a giant pink hat as she sat amongst the crowds, and while some labelled the accessory “beautiful,” many pointed out how distracting it was.

The Firework singer was criticised by some for her choice of hat, which sat slanted to the right of her head.

The item obstructed the view of some of the other guests sitting behind her, which viewers found “obnoxious”.

Twitter user @limeandonion wrote: “Nice hat, but you wouldn’t want to be sat behind Katy Perry in Westminster Abbey. #Coronation.”

@minorlydiddled fumed: “Katy Perry and her comically large hat really set the tone for how unserious this whole thing is. Saw Lionel Richie taking selfies with fans in the Abbey too lol. #TheCoronation.”

“Those women in those stupid hats in the Abbey are going to be blocking people’s view. They all look like they’re going to be heels up in the flowerbeds at Flemington by lunchtime. I’m looking at you, Katy Perry,” complained @msmisrule.

@MarkDeeksNBA penned: “Katy Perry is here in a truly obnoxious hat, while Anthony Fauci looks on disapprovingly.”

@FiShoop remarked: “I’d be annoyed if I were seated behind Katy Perry’s huge but pretty hat #Coronation.”

Others gushed over Katy’s clothing though, with @Ntandorhzwide enthusing: “#Coronation just saw Katy Perry with a beautiful pink hat.”
