Speaking to Rylan Clark on Friday evening’s It Takes Two, Kym Marsh admitted the number of spins in the Viennese waltz is proving tricky for her. Graziano Di Prima choreographed the routine for their second Strictly routine but after fighting an “ear problem” a few years ago, Kym revealed the fast-paced twists and turns have left her concerned.

This is because Kym now suffers from visual vertigo, she explained to Rylan on the BBC spin-off.

The revelation came when Rylan probed: “Anton (Du Beke) did say though he wants you to work on your spins because you’re gonna use them all the way through and he wasn’t lying.

“Tomorrow night, you’re going to be doing the Viennese waltz to this,” Rylan went on as Runaway by The Corrs played in the studio

“One of my favourites this song,” Kym admitted before Rylan went on: “We love a bit of The Corrs but how often have you been [imitates retching noise] in rehearsals with all those spins?”

“Well, you see, I’ve got visual vertigo,” Kym replied. “So I had an ear problem about six years ago and it left me with visual vertigo.

“So basically, if I… even moving lights like make me feel weird, I can’t do it.

“So spinning and spinning and spinning… and there’s a particular point in this routine where I am spinning so fast and then he wants me to get up and do a turn on my own.

“I mean, I can’t do them at the best of times so I’m literally like, ‘Oh, my… what am I gonna do here?’”

Rylan tried to ease her fears by asking: “Are you finding it easier as the weeks go on though in rehearsals?”

“No!” Kym quickly answered before sharing a laugh with Rylan and Graziano.

She clarified: “No I have, I have when I’m with him because I have him, do you know what I mean?

“But when you’ve just finished spinning really fast and you’ve got to go and do that turn on your own, that’s probably the bit that I’m most worried about.”

However, Kym isn’t going to let her visual vertigo stand in her way as she finished on a defiant note.

“But, do you know what? It is what it is,” she added. “I can’t help having the problem that I’ve got.

“So I’m just gonna do my best and my best is all I can do.”

Rylan praised: “Well, if you do half as good as you did last week we’ll be thrilled because I thought you did such a fantastic job.”

Kym has already made an impression with the Strictly judges after opening the very first show of the new series.

However, she did receive a lukewarm reception from Craig Revel Harwood who slapped them with a score of four.

Luckily for Kym and Graziano, Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas awarded them with scores of six while Anton opted for a seven.

Heading into week two, this means Kym has a total of 23 points and currently occupies the eighth spot on the leaderboard.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday evening at 6:30pm on BBC One.
