Loose Women brought to halt as Denise Welch fumes ‘stop or I’m not doing it’

Loose Women star Denise Welch threatened to bring the ITV programme to an abrupt halt on Wednesday (March 22).

The actress, 64, sat on the panel alongside host Christine Lampard as well as Dame Kelly Holmes and Brenda Edwards for the third instalment of the week.

When the show began, Christine teased viewers that Denise would be sharing a story involving Hollywood icons Sir Michael Caine and Tom Cruise.

The Waterloo Road star began her story by explaining how she met Michael, 90, and his wife Shakira around seven years ago.

But as she mentioned the Cockney actor's name, an unknown person struck a gong off screen.

Letting it slide, Denise continued with her story and explained she met the film icon when he showed an interest in her husband, Lincoln Townley's artwork.

After the Coronation Street actress detailed her first meeting with the Batman star, she added: "I was sat up one end of the table and Michael was up the other end with Lincoln. And I heard Michael say…"

It was at that moment the noise of the gong could be heard off-screen once again.

Laughing it off, she continued: "I heard Michael say in a very loud whisper, 'Can we go Shakira, she don't half talk a lot'" as the gong was smashed again.

Continuing to ignore the sound, Denise went on to say: "Many moons later we went for lunch at the house. I was gossiping about Carol Vorderman…"

As the sound of the gong was made for a fourth time, Denise finally reacted as she threatened to stop speaking all together.

"Alright stop it otherwise I'm not doing this story," she shouted.

She went on to say that she was invited to Sir Michael's 90th birthday and was asked to do a speech which ended up making Tom Cruise cry with laughter.
