Love Island fans cry not fair as unexpected recoupling ends on cliffhanger

Love Island: Ella and Ruchee left single and vulnerable

As the Love Island contestants enjoyed their evening together in Tuesday’s episode, their faces dropped as they found out there would be a recoupling where the boys would pick which girls they would like to couple up with.

This meant the girls not picked to be in a couple would be left “single and vulnerable”.

As the girls stood in front of the fire pit, Charlotte and Leah chose who they wanted to couple up with first.

Leah chose to couple up with Tyrique Hyde, leaving Ella Thomas visibly fuming as the girls tried to reassure her.

Charlotte’s turn came next as she said she “found herself being drawn to” Zachariah Noble.

She said the decision had been “hard” as there were a lot of boys she wanted to couple up with.

Molly Marsh’s eyes opened wide as she looked taken aback by Charlotte’s decision, following her kiss with Zach.

Turning the attention to the boys, Andre Furtado chose to couple up with Catherine Agbaje and Medhi Edno chose Whitney Adebayo, following their date together.

Sammy, who was coupled up with Jess Harding, chose to remain with his current partner.

Finally, Mitch Taylor chose to stick with Molly, but Zach was clearly disappointed as he wanted to get to know Zach better.

This left Ella and Ruchee Gurung vulnerable, with Ruchee saying: “This is crazy, are you okay?” to Ella.

Catherine got a text which asked the Islanders to choose which girl should be saved.

The girl not chosen would be dumped from the island immediately.

The episode ended before it was revealed who the Islanders had chosen.

Viewers took to Twitter to hit out at the cliffhanger and the fact Ella and Ruchee both faced elimination.

Fuming over the cliffhanger, Harley wrote: “What was the actual purpose of that cliffhanger though we all know they’re not gonna send Ella home #LoveIsland”

Busengof added: “Urrrgggghhhhhhh the Cliffhanger” as D asked: “Are you frigging kidding me? It’s a cliffhanger? Are we not too old for these cliffhangers? @LoveIsland ? #LoveIsland”
