Love Island fans were left fuming during the latest episode after voice-over Iain Stirling made a joke referring to a "Nigerian prince".

During Tuesday's episode (June 27), Mal Nichol's asked Sammy Root whether he had ever been stung by a bee.

But as Iain narrated the scene, he appeared to make reference to fraud.

He said: "Mal wants to know if Sammy has ever been stung. Well there was that one time when he gave his bank account details to a Nigerian Prince who claimed to have won the lottery."

However, fans were not best pleased with the remark and headed over to Twitter to complain.

One viewer said: "Excuse me. What’s this VoiceOver guys name again? Sorry the 'joke' about the Nigerian scammer I don’t appreciate. OFCOM."

Another echoed: "Don’t like that Nigerian prince joke. I'm calling OFCOM!!"

A third said: "Looool Ian? Nigerian Prince? That was cheeky. NOT TOO MUCH NOW."

A fourth said: "That Nigerian prince joke was so off bc it’s a joke that’s only ever really landed in the US, and is literally from the 2003 pixelated internet era. Give it a rest!"

"Not the Nigerian Prince jokes already Iain," another complained.

But this isn't the first time Iain has come under fire for his comments on the show.

During the first episode of the summer edition, Iain referred to Love Island as the "OG dating show," which means it was the originator of dating shows.

However many thought the remark was off and reminded Iain that there were other popular dating shows before Love Island was on the scene.

One annoyed spectator said: "Can I just say I think it’s bold of #LoveIsland to call itself the OG dating show… We had Blind Date. Cila would be fuming,"

Another penned: "OG dating show? I’m sorry #LoveIsland but that credential has to go to Blind Date."

While a third agreed: "#LoveIsland can they stop calling it the OG dating show? It's so not. It's good and iconic… but not the OG."
