Love Island romances that crumbled days after leaving the villa – including 'cheating' star’s desperate airport stunt | The Sun

IT’S not even a week since the Love Island grand finale and already one couple appear to be on the rocks.

Runners-up Ron Hall, 25, and Lana Jenkins, 25, reportedly had a “furious argument” on the plane home from South Africa and left separately instead of spending the night together.

One onlooker told The Sun the pair were “so fuming” at each other that they initially refused to film the ‘meeting the family’ part of the reunion show.

The furore came just 48 hours after Monday's Love Island final, which saw smitten Sanam Harrinanan and Kai Fagan, both 24, win with 44 per cent of the vote.

Now as one couple battle to make it work, we look at the show’s shortest romances.

Airport stunt

Samira Mighty and Frankie Foster’s romance in Love Island was short-lived after he was voted off by the public in 2018.

Determined to reunite with him, Samira quit the show and headed home on a flight, desperate to meet her lover at Gatwick airport.

Millions watched as "lovesick" Frankie greeted her with a sign bearing her name, before she leapt into his arms.

However, back on UK soil, sparks flew after it was alleged Frankie had bedded a 26-year-old blonde nightclub reveller just hours before Samira landed.

The woman, named only as Stephanie, claimed not to know about his Islander beau and said Frankie "should be ashamed” – but he denied anything happened.

Weeks later Frankie was spotted locking lips with another woman in Gallery Nightclub in Maidstone, Kent, while Samira partied elsewhere.

He told talkRADIO: “We met at a nightclub, we went out. The biggest mistake for me, and this is what me and Samira have spoken about and I had to apologise about, is that I was in the same room as those two."

The star, who insisted he hadn’t slept with anyone behind Samira’s back, added: "This is a real relationship. We are boyfriend and girlfriend and we are in a relationship.

“It’s a big wake-up call for me, it’s a big learning curve. I can’t put myself in that situation ever again.”

The couple lasted just one month before a representative stated they had “decided to take a break from their relationship and focus on themselves for now”. Suffice to say they didn't reunite.

'Partying problem'

They were one of the most dramatic couples of Love Island series five, back in 2019, and argued constantly in the villa.

Many questioned whether Belle Hassan and Anton Danyluk’s relationship was more “showmance” than romance.

It followed her dad, the actor Tamer Hassan, revealing her motivations on The Steven Sulley Study podcast last year, after wrongly believing it was to “make her boyfriend jealous”.

She allegedly told him: "I want 150,000 followers, I want a platform. I want five salons, I want to create my own make-up range and I want to float it and sell it to L’Oréal for £100million."

Anton's obsession with Craig David also made Belle feel awkward. He seemed to be more excited about reuniting with Craig than speaking to her

On AfterSun, Belle boldly admitted she was “there for a free holiday” and when producers told her “we are filming, you’ve got to do something”, she responded: “I’m just here for the tan.”

Unsurprisingly the couple lasted just five weeks in the real world. They reportedly split when the make-up artist grew tired of Anton’s wild partying in Ibiza.

A source told us she had “seen all the pictures and videos" from abroad "and now just wants out” after feeling that he was “disrespecting their relationship”.

They added: “His obsession with Craig David also made her feel awkward. He seemed to be more excited about reuniting with Craig than speaking to her.”

'Dumped by text'

Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea took home the trophy for being the shortest-lasting Love Island winners, splitting just one month after leaving the show.

She claimed the rugby player dumped her by text after they struggled to make it work due to him living in Dublin and her in London.

Speaking about their struggles, Amber told Loose Women: “I just was like, 'Oh, I'm going to have to give up if you don't put the effort in', and then he was like, 'Okay, bye’.”

Rugby player Greg denied the split happened over text, claiming they rowed over FaceTime before he left for training and when he returned his “phone was blowing up”.

“An article was released, 'Greg breaks up with Amber over text' – I couldn't believe it,” he told The Laughs Of Your Life podcast.

He suggested Amber wanted him to “fight for it” but said he “had to be realistic and looked at it as a proper relationship and not the Love Island winners”.

Greg claimed he received death threats over the split, despite being sceptical about a ‘real’ relationship early on.

“When she posed the question to me being like, ‘You’re obviously gonna ask me to be your girlfriend, are you?’ I was like, ‘But sure how is this gonna work?'” he recalled.

'Sneaky snog'

Danica Taylor sent Love Island fans into a frenzy with her impressive twerking and many believed she and Jamie Allen were in it for the long haul.

The pair even posed for a bizarre double-denim photoshoot in OK! magazine where she bragged about their sex life and spoke about their potential for “cute kids”.

But within a few weeks of being in the real world, their relationship was confirmed to be over after Danica was spotted snogging TOWIE star Roman Hackett.

A source told the MailOnline that they “were yet to make their relationship official” and they “didn’t quite work romantically” due to spending more time on their careers.

They said: “Jamie has just signed for a new football team and Danica is busy pursuing endless opportunities after leaving the Love Island villa and they sadly drifted apart.”

Roman later told the Reality With Will Njobvu podcast that they'd spent the night together way before they were photographed and got together just days after she split up with Jamie.

'TOWIE affair' claim

Fans were so obsessed with 2015’s Love Island winners Jess Hayes and Max Morley that they gave them the hashtag #JAX – but the couple lasted just 40 days.

She claimed they “gave it our best shot” but furious rows and claims he didn’t treat their romance like a real relationship followed.

The couple were photographed during a heated row outside a London hotel – in one snap she appeared to slap him.

Jess told The Sun: “I'm not gonna lie, the boys just want to be boys… I'm not saying that girls are any different, but the boys want to go out and do their thing.

"They’ll go to loads of PAs (public appearances), tours of nightclubs, and go together with the other boys while girls are throwing themselves at them.”

She claimed to have “major anxiety” and no trust in Max, who was linked to TOWIE star Jessica Wright in the weeks that followed Love Island.

Pal Amy Childs alleged Max had gone out with his TV show girlfriend only to “follow our Jess [Wright] to another club” later, after they were pictured in a taxi just one week before.

'Showmance' claim

Love Island winners Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies’ time in the villa was far from a smooth ride; they briefly split after he snogged Chyna Ellis and pursued two other girls.

Despite winning the show, their romance lasted just six months in total and Amber claimed it was because they chose fame over “committing to the relationship”.

In 2018 she told ITV’s Lorraine show: “For sure it was the pressure of fame [behind our split], you have to make that decision.

“Either commit to the relationship and work on it, or you get sworn into this life and you concentrate on your career. Doing both of them is really hard.”

They split the £50,000 cash prize and bagged numerous gigs including standing in for entertainment reporter Richard Arnold on Good Morning Britain.

After announcing the relationship was over in December 2017, a source told us they had “been at each other’s necks” and “clashed over the smallest things”.

The pal explained “their hectic schedules” made it “very hard” to see each other so they decided to split but “remain good friends”.
