A popular Love Island contestant has been brutally dumped from the villa.

Following a public vote which was given to fans at the end of Wednesday night's episode, Islanders were gathered around the fire pit.

A show insider has since revealed that the least compatible couples were left at risk of leaving the villa and one popular Islander has already been dumped.

They have since packed their bags and left the Mallorca villa – though the scenes aren't likely to air until Friday night's show.

A source told The Sun: "The dumping came as a total shock to the islanders.

"One of them has packed their things and left the villa already.

"Love Island fans are going to have to wait to find out who it is as it's likely the result won't be revealed in tonight's show."

Daily Star has reached out to ITV for comment.

The shock dumping follows the Islanders recoupling during Wednesday night's show.

The tense episode saw Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu opt to reunite with former flame Davide Sanclimenti.

Bombshell Danica Taylor also ruffled feathers by recoupling with Jay Younger.

Earlier in the episode, Jay had expressed his reservations about exploring a romantic connection with Danica due to their age difference.

He said he had instead considered the possibility of a romantic connection between he and Antigoni Buxton, who was left to couple up with the newest Islander Charlie Radnedge.

Antigoni was later seen complaining about Ekin-Su and Danica's choices before patching things up with her fellow bombshells at the end of the episode.

The brutal dumping will follow the Islanders enjoying romantic garden brunch dates with one another.

Fans will also see Ekin-Su and Davide enjoy a romantic grape-crushing date away from the villa, while Gemma Owen and Luca Bish enjoy a steamy night in the hideaway.

Love Island continues at 9pm tonight (June 30) on ITV2.
