Married at First Sight Australia viewers were left distracted as two new pairs joined the experiment.

Evelyn and Rupert and Hugo and Tayla tied the knot in front of all the remaining couples.

As the two couples said 'I do', E4 viewers were quick to point out that they recognised model Evelyn from her stint on Big Brother.

The Aussie beauty appeared on the reality show back in 2016 and came fifth place in the 17th series.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "Evelyn the Big Brother contestant beat all those other genuine love seeking hopefuls."

Another added: "Evelyn must be v fame hungry because she was on big brother years ago."

A third person said: "Omg the new girl Evelyn she was on big brother in 2016!! I knew I recognised her face!"

While a fourth person typed: "Why’s Evelyn from big brother UK on #mafsau?"

Things didn't get off to the best start for Evelyn and Rupert as the wedding itself beame one of the most awkward in the show's history.

When Evelyn walked down the aisle, Rupert could barely muster a single word, and when he did finally get a sentence out, it was so muffled the guests could barely hear it.

The other couples, who were also guests, commented on just how shiny his forehead is as he begun to sweat profusely.

They struggled through their vows as Rupert stumbled over every word, and his attempts at jokes fell flat.

He also battled to get the rings out of his jacket pocket.

Eventually they got married, but things didn't get much better at the reception.

Married at First Sight Australia airs Monday to Thursday on E4 at 7.30pm
