Martin Clunes shares emotional hug on set of Doc Martin after filming last scene ever | The Sun

MARTIN Clunes has filmed his emotional last scenes as Doc Martin as the much-loved show comes to an end after 18 years.

Series 10 of Doc Martin and its Christmas special will see Martin play Portwenn's bad-tempered Dr Martin Ellingham for the last time.

The 60-year-old actor has played the lead role in the ITV drama since 2004.

The final scenes were shot in Treyarnon Bay, Cornwall and saw the hot-tempered GP called to a cliff edge to help save a woman who's fallen into the sea.

During the lunch break, Martin flew a drone and after "cut' was shouted for the final time, he gave a spontaneous and emotional speech to the cast and crew before giving many of them hugs.

The final series of Doc Martin sees the GP making efforts to overcome his phobia, and starting to question whether he made the right decision about resigning.

He and wife Louisa will also welcome a baby daughter, Mary Elizabeth, a sister to four-year-old James Henry.

Earlier in the week, Holidaymaker Chris Haig witnessed the cast filming some of the last scenes in Port Isaac.

He told Express.co.uk: "I think it was quite an emotional week for many long-time cast and crew members as well as for many fans who were allowed to get so close during the filming in the heart of the village of Port Isaac."

Although Martin is sad to say goodbye to the show, he previously said it was the right time to leave.
