The Masked Singer fans vented their frustration towards the show audience after they sent an I'm A Celeb star home – who had a "perfect" voice.

To celebrate the return of I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, the beloved reality show returned to screens on Saturday night (November 6) with a jungle special, featuring old campmates from previous series.

After This Morning star Alison Hammond was unveiled as Witchetty Grubb, Cockroach and Kangaroo took to the stage to battle it out and belt out their songs for the panel.

Cockroach put on a great performance, with judge Rita Ora admitting he had a "phenomenal" voice.

But it wasn't enough as Cockroach narrowly missed out on a place in the final, leading him to take off his mask.

One user fumed: "I don’t get the voting in #TheMaskedSinger, are the audience voting for the one they think they know who it is rather than the better singer?"

"I'd know his voice a mile off, best singer by a mile and they picked kangaroo, tone deaf idiots in that audience," raged a second.

Another seething viewer vented: "I told u never leave voting down to the studio audience. Time and time again they have shown n proven how useless they are. That Kangaroo could not hold a note and still gets through. When u had the amazing Cockroach who could sing. That audience is seriously whack."

"Studio audience are nuts. What a weird vote!," echoed a fourth.

Cockroach was revealed to be singer Russell Watson who appeared on the 2020 series of I'm A Celeb – the first series which was filmed in Wales.

He was beaten by Simon Cowell's ex Sinita who was underneath the Kangaroo disguise.

But the winner of the show turned out to be Vernon Kay who starred in the same series of I'm a Celeb as Russell.
