'Menacing' Ravi vows to ruin Denise's life in EastEnders

Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) is on a mission in EastEnders to get information about the police investigation into him and he will stop at nothing to get what he’s after, even if it means hurting Denise Fox (Diane Parish).

The criminal, who rocked up in the Square last year following a stint in prison, is being pursued by policeman Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), who is leading the investigation into him.

Denise, meanwhile, struggled to resist Ravi’s charms earlier this year, with the pair almost embarking on an affair, until she realised she couldn’t cheat on Jack, but matters were complicated when she realised that her hubby was looking into Ravi, hoping to bring him down.

After a close call, in which Callum Highway (Tony Clay) caught her on camera with Ravi, Denise informed her near-lover all about Jack’s investigation, hoping this would keep him at arm’s length.

It’s had the opposite effect, however, with Ravi trying to use Denise to get information on the investigation so he knows what he’s dealing with.

‘Ravi feels very scorned and very hurt after bearing his soul to Denise,’ actor Aaron Thiara told Metro.co.uk. ‘As a narcissist, he can’t deal with that level of emotion and hurt, so his default goes to: “Okay, well I’m going to defend myself and I’m going to make your life a misery.”

‘Ravi understands that he’s under investigation from Jack which Denise reveals, so it’s quickly become a point of survival for him. The most important person in Ravi’s life is his son Davinder, so it becomes a case of battling between going to prison and losing his son, which he really regrets having done that in previous years, or trying to find out the information at any cost.

‘If that means blackmailing Denise, then so be it.’

Denise, however, refuses to be pushed around by him, telling him to do his worst, and therefore Ravi turns his attention to Chelsea (Zaraah Abrahams), much to Denise’s shock.

‘This is all a motive for survival,’ admits actor Aaron, who confirms that his character has no romantic interest in Chelsea. ‘If that means breaking someone’s heart, then so be it. He wants to progress things with Chelsea but not all the way.

‘He’s using Chelsea as a pawn to get to Denise, so he’s testing the waters of how far he needs to go to get the information from her.’

Ravi takes things one step further next week, inviting himself as Chelsea’s plus one to the family games night, much to Denise and Jack’s horror. Things get out of hand, with Ravi subsequently teasing Jack about Denise, before offering to stay away from Chelsea exchange for the intel. Denise smugly puts Ravi in his place, but he comes back with a threat that leaves her shaking in her boots.

‘Ravi shows his malicious, menacing true colours to Denise because Ravi is in survival mode at this point’, added Aaron, discussing the upcoming scenes.

‘Games night is full of layers and interesting looks. Ravi is trying to play the role of being the best partner to Chelsea in front of her family, but under this he is being very deceptive in his actions to wind Denise up.’
