Michael J Fox leaves Whoopi Goldberg gobsmacked on The View
Michael J Fox admits that his biggest career regret was turning down a role 90s hit film ‘Ghost.’
Michael J Fox stunned Whoopi Goldberg when he appeared on Thursday’s instalment of The View.
The Hollywood star left the whole panel in shock when he dropped the huge bombshell that he turned down a role to star in the 1990 hit, Ghost.
The movie starred Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore as a couple called Sam and Molly whose romance is torn apart when he gets killed as part of a criminal plot.
Sam returns to Earth in the form of a ghost and sets out to protect Molly with the help of a sham psychic played by Whoopi, who later went on to win an Oscar for the role.
The revelation was shared when Whoopi asked Michael: “So are there any roles you regret turning down?”
“There was a chance to work with you that I missed,’ he told Whoopi, before revealing he was approached to star in the critically-acclaimed film.
Michael then explained his reasoning for turning down the role, admitting that he thought “It’ll never work”.
The Back to the Future star clearly regretted his decision as he warmly added that Ghost “was great and huge – and I’m a f***ing idiot”.
The actor also discussed his career regret while chatting with Variety recently.

Michael explained that rejected the idea of starring in Ghost because he “didn’t see how it would work.”
Despite Michael’s initial thoughts, Ghost went on to be a huge hit becoming the highest-grossing movie of the year that included Pretty Woman and Home Alone.
Although Michael missed out on starring in one of the world’s biggest films, it didn’t hinder his acting career in the slightest.
By that point, Michael had established himself as one of the biggest names in Hollywood, first on TV with Family Ties and then on the big screen with Back To The Future, both in 1985.
Michael’s latest movie project called Still: A Michael J Fox Movie, is set to focus on himself, as it details his life since being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.
Speaking about his new project, Michael told The View panel about why he wanted to tell his story in a movie.
The ladies went on to praise the Hollywood star on his strength for opening up about his ongoing battle with Parkinson’s Disease while praising him for still including “humour” in the hard-hitting docu-film.
Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie is available to stream on Apple TV+ in the US and the UK.
