Michelle Heaton joins Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Patsy Palmer in line-up for Dancing on Ice

The next contestant for ITV Dancing on Ice has been revealed as Michelle Heaton.

Appearing live on Lorraine this morning, Michelle, 43, told the host: "I've always wanted to do it and had my name in the mix. But I knew I would never have been able to complete anything because of the way my body was 18 months ago."

She added: "I'm truly grateful I've got it this year and I'm a lot stronger. I'm not a skater. I've been on the ice a couple of times just to get my feet moving but tomorrow is the first day in my skates with everybody else."

Michelle went on to share that she's had some advice from Liberty X bandmate Jessica Taylor – who previously appeared on Dancing on Ice. She told Michelle to "Just enjoy it and be (yourself)".

Michelle is also marking almost 18 months in recovery by joining the cast of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

The singer endured a three year battle with drink but told Lorraine: "I feel so lucky and a massive thank you for your support. The colour has come back and everything is clear. I'm just really focussed on the time ahead."

Michelle also said of her sobriety: "To anyone watching, if I can do something like this then you can. It is possible."

Michelle will join RuPaul's Drag Race UK 2019 winner The Vivienne, EastEnders' Patsy Palmer, John Fashanu, comedian Darren Harriott, Corrie's Mollie Gallagher, Olympic Gymnast Nile Wilson and Love Island winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu.

Winner of the 2022 series Ekin-Su was announced to be donning her skates earlier this week.

She shared the news on Good Morning Britain and said: “Hi Good Morning Britain, it’s Ekin-Su here today.

"I’ve got some amazing news to tell you. I will be doing this year’s Dancing On Ice! I’m so excited for the team and can’t wait to get myself on the ice and skate.

"Stay tuned and see you on the ice!"

Rumours have been swirling around who else will be joining the line up for this year's series with Love Island star Andrew Le Page being tipped as a possible favourite.

Addressing the reports that he’s signed up for the series , Andrew, 27, exclusively told OK! that he’d love to take on the ITV skating show.

"This is the first I’ve heard of it but I’d love to do it if they’d have me," Andrew said. "I can’t dance but I’ve got a very good teacher in Tasha."

Patsy Palmer was the first contestant to be announced to be taking part in next year’s show and told This Morning: "Out of all the things that came through this was the one I had to really think about."

She added: "Obviously I want to challenge myself, get back to work, get out of my comfort zone and I just thought I'll go for it. It seems a lot of fun and I do like ice skating though I'm not an ice skater."

Dancing On Ice returns to ITV and ITVX in 2023 with a new cast as 11 celebrities prepare to embark on the ultimate challenge as they take to the ice each week, skating live in a bid to impress both the panel and viewers at home.

Regan Gascoigne was the crowned winner of Dancing On Ice 2022 . Speaking after being awarded the trophy, Regan said he never thought he'd win the show, while breaking down in tears.
