Orlando Bloom unveils devastating back scar which nearly left him unable to walk

Orlando Bloom has revealed his back scar for the first time since he accidentally fell down four floors which almost left him paralysed at the age of 19.

On Monday, the 45-year-old Hollywood actor shared a carousel of videos of himself in a pair of tiny black workout shorts getting hot and sweaty in his home gym.

He is seen impressively pumping iron topless with his personal trainer, with the final clip showing the star working out his biceps on a heavily weighted machine which showed off his impressive back muscles.

And in full view of his six million followers on Instagram, eagle-eyed viewers spotted a half-moon shaped scar in the centre of the dad-of-two's back situated just centimetres away from his spine.

He captured the inspiring video: “I broke my back when I was 19 and they said I'd never walk again [smiling emoji].”

And his loyal legion of fans soon flooded to his comments section where they passed on their compliments online.

One user penned: “Oh, well, excuse us! Somebody is walking,” as another agreed: “Major comeback alert [red alarm emoji].”

A third penned: “I am inspired to drink one less beer tomorrow [fire emoji]” while another fan of the star asked: “Are we getting another Tolkein movie [shocked emoji] because Legolas is preparing.”

Previously, the actor has opened up about his near-fatal accident on Instagram after he shared a throwback snap of him riding a bike with a back brace on.

He wrote: “That’s me in my back brace circa 1998 about 3 months after I feel 3floors and crushed my spine, narrowly escaping death and paralysis…

“Grateful everyday for my limbs that allow me to push my limits and live life on my edge (safer now [praying emoji]).”

It is understood that the actor was climbing up a rooftop terrace with his friends when a drainpipe he was scaling gave way which caused him to drop four floors.

He broke several vertebrae in his back and was paralysed for four days, but after multiple surgeries, he was able to walk again and was even able to ride horseback in The Lord of the Rings just 18 months after his fall.

Speaking to The Guardian, the actor recalled: “At 20, I fell from a fourth-floor window and broke my back. For four days they said I's never walk again, but I had a miraculous recovery.”
