Millions of fans around the globe are patiently waiting for the next instalment of Claire Fraser (played by Caitriona Balfe) and her husband Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) adventures through history. Luckily, Starz has given them a Christmas gift this week in the form of a brand new teaser trailer revealing some key moments from the highly anticipated seventh season of Outlander.
Warning – this article contains major spoilers for Outlander season seven.
The one-minute trailer has given Outlander fans a sneak peek at what appears to be a new addition to the Fraser family.
In Diana Gabaldon’s original novels, Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and her husband Roger Mackenzie (Richard Rankin) have three children after following Claire back through time.
Bree has already given birth to their first child, a son called Jeremiah, to whom they refer as Jemmy.
During the later novels, they go on to welcome a daughter named Amanda and a second son called David.
Outlander’s latest trailer now seems to confirm Bree will be giving birth to Amanda at some point in season seven.
The teaser contains several short clips of each of the main characters, including the central Fraser couple, the Mackenzies and Young Ian (John Bell).
In the footage, Bree shares a heartfelt moment with her mother Claire as they prepare to face down more challenges.
Another scene focuses on Claire’s daughter as she crouches down and yells in pain.
Fans of Diana’s books already know this is more than likely a glimpse at Amanda, or Mandy’s, tricky birth.
In book six, A Breath of Snow and Ashes, Mandy arrives with a severe heart defect which is impossible to rectify in the 18th Century.
Bree and Roger decide to return to the 20th Century to save the baby’s life, leaving Claire and Jamie to protect their home against the Revolutionary War.

Thankfully, the surgery is a success, and the family return to Fraser’s Ridge 200 years earlier to reunite Mandy with her grandparents.
She goes on to appear in books seven and eight, An Echo in the Bone and Written In My Heart’s Own Blood.
During book eight, her almost supernatural connection with her brother proves vital when Jemmy goes missing.
Elsewhere in the trailer, more time-travelling twists are teased as Jamie tells Claire of a cryptic dream about the future.
In the trailer’s voiceover, he tells her: “I had another dream. There was light, all around you.
“But it wasn’t a candlelight, or firelight. And I thought, ‘That must be what electric light is like.’”
The trailer confirms the next instalment will be arriving in summer 2023, and fans have plenty to look forward to as season seven will comprise a whopping 16 episodes.
Outlander season 7 premieres summer 2023 on Starz in the USA and Lionsgate+ via Prime Video in the UK.
