Paul's former flame Zac double-crosses him in horror betrayal in Corrie
Escapism was on Paul Foreman’s (Peter Ash) mind in Monday’s (July 3) edition of Coronation Street.
The beloved character was the centre of attention during a fundraising event at the Bistro, organised by Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) and Bernie (Jane Halzegrove).
The theme was a chilli eating competition and by the end, Bernie told Paul that they had managed to raise a massive £800 to put towards his motor neurone disease equipment.
Back at home, an already overwhelmed Paul listened in as Bernie and Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) began a heated debated about crystal therapy and religion.
He ended up leaving the flat and getting a drink at a hotel bar, where he spotted Zac.

It turns out that Zac was a former love interest of Paul’s so naturally, they had a lot to talk about and catch up on.
With Peter Ash previously telling us that Paul’s conversation with Zac makes him forget about his reality for a little while, the character certainly enjoyed spending time with him.
Paul and Zac then ended up in a hotel room. They kissed, but Paul stopped things from going too far by revealing to Zac that he has a boyfriend, lives with him, and doesn’t cheat.
The friends continued drinking but as night fell, we saw Paul asleep on the bed and Zac picking up the charity money.
Zac left, leaving Paul on his own, but what will he tell Billy when he returns home?
‘This lad doesn’t know anything about the current things going on with Paul’, Peter Ash said.
‘There’s a big part of Paul that just one wants a normal night, where the conversation isn’t always about the MND and the fact that he’s dying, and people are treading on eggshells.
‘So, he ends up reconnecting with this lad and he starts to actually enjoy himself because his mind is not on his illness. He feels this is what it used to be like with nobody being awkward around him.
‘He just doesn’t want to deal with it’, Peter added, reflecting on how Paul feels in the aftermath.
‘He lies and says that he slept on a mate’s sofa as he had too much to drink – I mean, that bit is true, at least! But he can barely look Billy in the eye, and Bernie picks up on that.
‘Paul just doesn’t want to think about it, but at some point, he’s going to have to because they’re going to find out that the money’s gone!
‘He just realises how much he’s messed up after everything that Billy’s done for him and is doing for him. He comes clean and he basically says, “I messed up and I don’t know why you’re with me as I don’t deserve you”.’
