Emmerdale viewers were left heartbroken as Faith Dingle’s final scenes aired last week, and actress Sally Dexter has revealed that she felt the same.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, she joked that she had made a ‘remarkable recovery’ since the last time we had seen her on screen.
‘It wasn’t easy, was it?’ she said of the episode. ‘As long as we didn’t depress people. We wanted to do justice to a story we felt needed to be told. It was done with a lot of love.’
Sally told us that even though she knew where the storyline was heading, it was inevitable for there to be flickers of regret.
‘Almost immediately we started it I began thinking, “Why did I think this was such a good idea?” she laughed.
‘It did seem like a good idea at the time, but it made me profoundly sad.
‘But then again leaving something you love is always going to be like that and Faith loves life.’
Reflecting on her final scenes alongside the Dingles and her friends, Sally explained how she felt about Faith’s ending.
‘It was wonderful to have those relationships resolved in a happy way. I know we were talking about death, but we wanted to make it as positive as we possibly could, because the most important thing about death is the thing that happens before it – life.’
