FANS and friends alike have paid tribute to Thor and Star Wars actor Ray Stevenson following his death aged 58.
The star's cause of death remains unknown after his death was confirmed by his publicist, reports Variety.
The Northern Irish star was also known for having portrayed Dagonet in the film King Arthur. He also starred as Volstagg, one of Thor's trusted comrades, in the 2011 Marvel film Thor and played the main villain in the hit epic RRR.
Ray is set to have a part as a Dark Jedi in the upcoming Star Wars Ahsoka series on Disney+.
Paying tribute, one friend wrote: "I’m shocked and saddened by the tragic news that a great actor and my good friend Ray Stevenson has passed away. I will miss you Big Ray! Life is short so make the most of it people."

Marvel Studios posted a message on social media expressing deep sadness at the loss of Ray Stevenson, whom they described as a ‘wonderful actor’.

RRR Movie honours Ray Stevenson
The RRR movie’s official Twitter page has shared a message honouring Ray Stevenson’s bravery while shooting the movie, along with a photo showing the late actor in action.
RRR Movie tweeted: “He was 56 years old when we were shooting this difficult scene but he did not hesitate while performing this stunt.
“We will forever cherish having you on the sets of #RRR, Ray Stevenson.

One wrote: “They say you should never meet your idols, typically they are right, most of them are dicks. I got to share a few drinks, stories, and laughs with Ray Stevenson. His ability to make even minor roles in TV and film iconic was uncanny. He was kind and genuine, I was incredibly sad…”
Another said: “Not enough people knew Ray Stevenson for his role as Blackbeard in Black Sails. Do yourself a favor and watch Black Sails, the greatest pirate show or movie ever created.”
A third posted: “I sat at a table with him at a charity event some years ago. Absolutely fell in love with his personality and story telling. Such a huge loss. He was a great guy. Love to his family”

George Raymond Stevenson – professionally known as Ray Stevenson – was born on May 25, 1964, in Lisburn, Northern Ireland.
He attended the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and he made his film debut in The Theory of Flight in 1998.
The actor had many credits to his name including King Arthur (2004), Punisher: War Zone (2008), The Three Musketeers (2011), and Kill The Irishman (2011), RRR (2022).
Aside from the first three Thor films, in which he played Volstagg, he also appeared in the Divergent trilogy Marcus, G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013) and The Transporter: Refuelled (2015).
His TV roles included Titus Pullo in Rome, Blackbeard Black Sails and Commander Jack Swinburne in the German television series Das Boot.
He also appeared as Othere in Vikings, and Isaak Sirko in Dexter.
Stevenson also did voice work in Star Wars Rebels and The Clone Wars, as Gar Saxon.
Before passing away, Stevenson had been cast in the historical drama, 1242: Gateway To The West, for a role that was originally going to be played by Kevin Spacey.
He also had a role in the upcoming Star Wars live-action TV mini-series Ahsoka, playing Baylan Skoll.
The actor’s net worth was estimated to be £6.4million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
On Sunday, May 21, 2023, Stevenson passed away – just days before his 59th birthday.

Gunn had been involved in the production of Thor alongside Stevenson.

Ray Stevenson had many roles where he played a warrior wearing sandals and swinging a sword – Thor, The Three Musketeers, Rome etc.
