Rise and Falls James on gut-wrenching exit and says he didnt deserve to go

Rise and Fall star James has opened up on his "gut-wrenching" exit from the Channel 4 show.

The Welshman got booted out of the competition by his fellow Rulers in a shock double elimination twist during Tuesday's (April 4) dramatic episode.

Both James and Jeff got axed because their co-stars couldn't agree who to keep in the Penthouse.

Opening up about his controversial departure, James told Daily Star: "It was gut-wrenching because at that point I knew I was the strongest.

"I made no wrong mistakes and I'd gone with my own heart and my own head.

"People who were voting me out knew I was the strongest and knew I was pretty switched on.

"I thought there could have been a smidge where Moses thought James has proved himself but clearly the best ones go too soon.

"For me I didn't feel like it was my time to go because I had so much more to offer."

James started off as a Grafter down in the Basement and worked his way up to the Penthouse where he became a Ruler.

Speaking about his time in the luxurious apartment, he said: ""It was definitely intense and in your head your constantly thinking 'are they going to betray me?'

"You're constantly second guessing every single thing you do, even when you go to the toilet.

"There was a time before I went to the Red Room I was like I need the toilet but I don't want to miss the conversation incase they turn on me.

"I wanted to be there all the time so I could watch everything that was going on. I wanted to win and be in there until the end."

Since becoming one of the stand-out stars of the show, James has received huge support from fans as well as some famous faces.

He said: "Rylan [Clark] is a massive fan of Rise and Fall as well as some of the The Traitors cast.

"I've also been speaking to Joe Baggs on socials and Ruth Corden, James Corden's sister, has messaged and followed me."

Rise and Fall continues tonight at 10pm on Channel 4 and All 4. Catch up with the series so far on All 4
