An evil serial killer with an “urge to kill” taunted police in notes he left with victims he had murdered and mutilated.
Chandrakant Jha’s crimes sent shockwaves across India after a dismembered body of one of his victims was found outside Tihar Jail in October 2006.
The body, without a head, was placed in a woven basket, was neatly wrapped in newspapers and cloth then placed into a plastic sheet preventing any blood from seeping out.

Officers found an ominous note left from the killer, who got away with his crimes for years, mocking and berating investigators.
Two other bodies were also found outside the large prison complex, with legs, arms and genitals missing. Notes were also left for the police to find.
Jha, a father of five, threw the heads of his victims into the Yamuna River.
A three-part true crime documentary series has aired on Netflix sharing the chilling details of the case as it unfolded.
Jha’s first killing took place in 1998. He was arrested but due to lack of evidence was released in 2002. He went on to murder six men between 2003 and 2007. He chose his victims after falling out over petty arguments and lies.
Reports from after he was convicted claimed that he even murdered people if they ate non-vegetarian food.
After he was caught, he asked investigators not to beat him and if they spared him, he would speak. Jha claimed to have been tortured by one specific officer during a previous stint in prison.
He revealed he wanted to torture the guard so he dropped off the mutilated bodies outside Gate 3 of the prison when he was on duty.
Subsequently, Jha, who had a grudge against the police, was found guilty on three counts of murder in 2013 and he is now serving a sentence of life imprisonment without remission.
He has admitted to killing seven people, however it is thought the real number may be higher.
