Shaughna Phillips praised by fans as she falls asleep in maternity nappy in candid post-pregnancy snap | The Sun

SHAUGHNA Phillips has been praised for showing the reality of being a new mum with a candid snap.

The Love Island star, who shot to fame on the ITV2 show in 2020, gave birth to her baby girl last week.

Shaughna shared a snap of her fast asleep sitting up in a maternity nappy while holding a cup of tea.

She wanted fans to see what she's really been going through since giving birth last week.

And the reality star didn't shy away from showing her swollen legs from an emergency c-section.

"Thought I’d bless your timeline with some reality," Shaughna said.

Shaughna Phillips fans say the same thing as she heads on sunny day with baby

"Breast feeding top, maternity nappy, peppermint tea to help the trapped wind in my shoulder (that pain is worse than any contraction I had btw), legs swollen from surgery and tired beyond belief!

"Can we also appreciate how I was able to fall asleep while keeping my cup upright?! Talent.

I don’t know if I’ll ever feel like I’m not winging it? But thank god for my village."

One fan replied: "As a mother of 5 I really appreciate seeing images like this. The reality of those early days is often hidden like it's something to be ashamed of, it's bloody hard! You've got this, winging it is my way of life."

Yesterday, Shaughna admitted she's been struggling to walk since surgery as she was out with her baby girl Lucia.

A fan commented under her snap: "Wow you look so good! I remember the first two to three weeks I couldn’t go outside (had an emergency c section) my body was a mess and I could barely walk. Glad to see you doing well."

Shaughna replied back: "Emergency c section here too. I hobbled the entire way."

Shaughna, 28, welcomed Lucia into the world on 4 April 2023.

Since then she's been updating fans with her journey into motherhood on social media.

Sharing a sweet snap of Lucia, Shaughna said on her Instagram story: "I can't wait to talk to you all about my birth story. I have a wild ride lol.

"But honestly, it doesn't matter how she got here, what matters is that she's here safe and sound.

"I definitely struggled not being able to do much for Lucia myself because of my recovery, but the support I've had from family is more than I could ever ask for!"

She later took to her grid to share some pictures from a walk with her baby girl.

"Lucia’s first dog walk," Shaughna said.

"Everything is so scary all of a sudden, cars are too loud, pavements are too bumpy, but we made it my dream girl."

The Love Island star revealed one of her parenting struggles yesterday.

The former reality TV favourite took to her Instagram to reveal she had been finding it hard to pump milk for her baby girl.

Sharing a photo of her barely-filled pump bottle, the star said it took "nearly tears" to produce less than 50ml of breast milk.
