Shirley blames herself for Mick's death in EastEnders
EastEnders fans have been left with aching hearts as Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) has hit rock bottom, blaming herself for the apparent death of her son Mick (Danny Dyer).
Worried friends Denise Fox (Diane Parish) and Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) let themselves into the Queen Vic after getting radio silence from Shirl.
They found her slumped on the ground after a vodka binge, but despite Shirley’s very clear demands that she wants left alone, they persevered, determined to help her in her darkest hour.
As Denise tried to sober Shirley up with a coffee and some toast (if only it were that simple!), emotions ran high as she crumbled, telling them that she can’t spend months holding on to hope that isn’t there, like she did with Tina.
As her helpless friends looked on, Shirley told them that she has to accept that Mick is dead – and it’s her fault.
She continued that she didn’t intervene with Janine (Charlie Brooks), as she didn’t with Gray in relation to Tina.
We all know that Shirley had suspicions over both villains, and she is now spewing hate on herself for not taking action.
Denise and Jean were immediately supportive of Shirley, assuring her that what has happened to Mick isn’t her fault, the blame lies with Janine.

Just as Shirl was starting to calm down, Scarlett let herself in, and wanted to apologise for not telling her about Janine lying when she was asked.
This was the straw over the camel’s back for Shirley, who exploded with rage and yelled at the youngster to get out.
Ouch!
For poor Shirley, the road to recovery from her grief looks set to be a long one.
