Soap operas are a sure fix for drama and scandal but sometimes the heated feuds occur long after the cameras switch off.

Some of the biggest names in EastEnders, Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Hollyoaks and become embroiled in bitter co-star bust-ups over the years.

Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver has braved the jungle for this year's series of I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! – but even she might be involved in a feud with a fellow actress.

Daily Star have dug up the biggest soap star feuds in history.

    Sue Cleaver and Vicky Entwhistle

When Sue entered the jungle earlier this month, Corrie alum Vicky Entwistle took to social media to make what appeared to be a subtle dig at her former co-star.

Vicky Entwhistle played Janice Battersby on the cobbles until 2011 and often appeared in scenes with Sue's character Eileen Grimshaw.

But during the I'm A Celeb launch show, Vicky told fans she had no plans to watch the show, according to the Mirror.

She reportedly wrote: "Don't think I will watch I'm A Celeb this season, have a feeling it may become too toxic."

The actress added: "I don't like pack mentality. It's often cruel and unbearable to watch, so I will give it a miss"

However, it's not been confirmed that Vicky was talking about Sue.

    Jessie Wallace and Barbara Windsor

In 2010, shortly after leaving EastEnders, the late Dame Barbara Windsor revealed on Life Stories with Piers Morgan that she had a blazing row with co-star Jessie Wallace.

When Wallace was 39 she had arrived to set late, keeping Windsor waiting and she lost her temper.

“Jessie Wallace was the first time I erupted. She was late, she was young. She’s not like that anymore. I lost my temper,” said Windsor, who died after battling Alzheimer’s in December 2020.

“It was silly and I burst into tears and ran up to the producer. I said I had been terrible and amateur.’

The pair made up and Windsor said: “We liked each other a lot and she is a good actress. But I told her not to be like that and arrive at the last minute. It was unprofessional."

Speaking to The Sun in March 2021 TV agent Melanie Blake revealed the moment she witnessed the explosive argument off-camera.

“I was in the Queen Vic and I saw Jessie Wallace and Barbara Windsor blow up at each other off camera in a scene like I have never seen broadcast," she said.

In the past Wallace has been accused of mirroring the behaviour of her iconic character Kat Slater.

Last year Wallace took a temporary departure from the show after reports that the actress’ bad behaviour on set led to soap bosses sitting her down for a talk.

    Roxanne Pallett and Ryan Thomas

In 2018 the two soap stars found themselves inside the Celebrity Big Brother house.

Pallett was famous for her role as Jo Stiles in ITVs Emmerdale and Thomas was popular for his depiction of Jason Grimshaw in the channel’s Coronation Street.

However, things took a dark turn when Pallett made allegations against Ryan that he had punched her inside the Celebrity Big Brother house.

Fans will remember the days that ensued where Pallett’s memory of the events were blown out of proportion.

In the original clip Thomas could be seen play fighting with Pallett who reacted with a laugh and a joke.

From there, Pallett convinced herself that Thomas intentionally hit her and spoke to Big Brother about feeling “uncomfortable”.

Over the next few days things escalated and Pallett began to question why Thomas was still inside the house at all.

Fans were left enraged and questioned what could have happened had the cameras not captured the events.

Viewers watched on in horror as Ryan, who went on to win the show, sobbed in the Diary Room over the accusations.

Pallett went on to do an interview with Emma Willis where she claimed that prior to her early departure from the Celebrity Big Brother House she had believed she had been attacked by Thomas, it was only when she watched the clip back did she realise her mistake.

Roxanne apologised and said she had made a horrible mistake and asked for forgiveness.

In an interview Ryan said: “If she wants forgiveness and it makes her feel better, then I would rather give her that because I think she’s been punished enough by the public and people around her.”

There were more than 25,000 complaints made to Ofcom over the incident.

Since the incident Pallett has been somewhat absent from the public eye.

She now lives in America and is married to a New York firefighter, Jason Carrion.

    Jamie Lomas and Asan N’Jie

    • Emmerdale’s Asan N’Jie 'threatened to kill’ Jamie Lomas in TV Choice Awards row

Fans were appalled in 2019 when shocking footage showed Asan N’jie and Jamie Lomas come to blows at the TV Choice Awards.

In the video Emmerdale’s N’Jie can be heard threatening to stab Hollyoak’s Lomas.

It was later revealed that the brawl was over a financial dispute between Lomas and one of N’Jie’s friends and co-stars.

N’Jie was sacked from Emmerdale shortly after the blow out.

In an apologetic statement N’jie said: “I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected, especially Jamie Lomas, the whole Emmerdale team, our audience, ITV, my family and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards.

“I am devastated, accept full responsibility for my actions and I am determined to learn from this.”

Five months after the fight N’Jie secured a role in the popular Bloodlands, starring James Nesbitt.

    Jane Danson and Vicky Entwistle

The pair had worked together on Coronation Street with Vicky Entwistle playing Jane Danson’s character’s step mum.

In November 2020 Danson’s character Leanne Battersby said goodbye to her terminally ill son Oliver and Danson won praise from both viewers and critics for her performance.

Georgia Taylor tweeted: “My beautiful, brilliant friend @RealJaneDanson You blew me away.”

Entwistle was seemingly less impressed and replied: “But imagine if she had better writers behind her!!! That really would have been something.”

Danson was offended and responded with a tweet: “That’s so disrespectful. They were some of the best scripts I have ever had. Shame on you for writing that! Very disappointed how mean that comment was!”

Fans of the show were quick to defend Janson and the Coronation Street writers, and some accused Entwistle of being jealous.

Within a few hours the original tweet from Entwistle had been deleted and revealed that she had apologised to her former co-star.

“I have apologised to @RealJaneDanson this morning. Rightly so. She is a wonderful actress! My tweet was childish & hurtful. I realise that & am truly sorry for any hurt I may have caused," Vicky tweeted.

Fans remained sceptical however and claimed that “the damage is done”.

Danson later told The Sun: “She did apologise, she said sorry. I think the problem with Twitter is people say things in the moment and often they sound a little bit harsher than what they were or people take it differently.

“On that occasion, yeah, I thought it was mean. But she did apologise so I suppose you have to draw the line.

“When you work really hard on something and somebody who understands that situation makes a comment like that, it is hurtful.

“So yeah I was a bit hurt by it but I’ve kind of let it go now!”

    James Sutton and Stephanie Davis

In 2015, Stephanie Davis departed from Hollyoaks amid claims that she turned up to work drunk.

James Sutton, who co-starred with Davis on the show, started a Twitter storm when he posted a picture of the Wizard of Oz’s Ding Dong the Witch is Dead with fans assuming it was aimed at Davis.

Replying to the tweet, a writer on the soap said: “Shade."

At which point Sutton tweeted “all out of sympathy” and “nine lives don’t last”.

Sutton’s dislike did not end there.

In 2016 Stephanie Davis made an appearance on Celebrity Big Brother.

The actor took to Twitter again to air his views.

Showing very little interest in the show he tweeted: “And my timeline is full of Big Brother sh**e. Night all.”

One of James’ followers replied to let the star know: “You’ll miss your old mucker Stephanie Davis if you go to bed now lol.”

To which Sutton made his feelings known tweeting: “I'd rather boil my head.”

He later deleted the tweet, but fans were too quick and captured the evidence.

Five years later and fans still remain clueless as to what caused the feud in the first place.

    Antony Cotton and John Thomson

The pair appeared in Coronation Street together but it is clear they did not see eye to eye.

When Cotton made an appearance on our screens for I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, Thomson took to the Twitter, lashing out: “Antony Cotton – the truth will out. You nasty piece of work, you are doing yourself no favours.”

It remains unclear what the beef is with these two but we’re sure it must be juicy.
