With brides and grooms jilted at the altar, affairs exposed and fake pregnancies, we take a look at the three of the most explosive soap wedding day heartbreaks in recent years.

EastEnders: Callum and Whitney

Whitney Dean and Callum Highway's wedding was set to take place in 2018, but their relationship was tested when it came out that Callum had shared a passionate moment with Ben Mitchell.

After finding out about the affair on the night before she was due to marry Callum, Whitney hunted Ben down and made it clear she had no intention of losing Callum, even if he was gay and had admitted the infidelity.

The next day Callum tried his best to convince Whitney that he loved her and wanted to get hitched, but then Whitney spotted Ben at the wedding.

Having another confrontation Whitney soon realised that she couldn't go through with marrying Callum.

Her step mum Bianca Jackson was the person to convince Whitney not to marry Callum, which was met with denial from Whitney at first.

Insisting that she loved him, Whitney ended up jilting her hubby-to-be at the altar and encouraged him not to live a lie with his sexuality.

Coronation Street: Eva and Aidan

Eva and Aidan were a total power couple on the cobbles, and their big day was due to take place in a very lavish affair.

Gearing up to marry in the same week as Aidan's dad Johnny, who was marrying Jenny, the weddings were due to take place in September 2017.

But things took a very dramatic turn at Eva and Aidan's wedding ceremony when Maria stormed in to reveal Eva had been faking her pregnancy.

This came after Aidan had recently come clean to Eva about his affair with Maria.

Although Eva forgave Aidan for him sleeping with Maria, it was unclear whether or not he could return the favour.

After the ceremony drama unfolded, Eva then marched across the lawn outside of the lavish stately home where the wedding was being held, to meet Maria.

Walking up to Maria, Eva growled "I'll have you" before pushing her into a huge fountain.

Splitting up after the fake pregnancy rocked their bond, Eva found out that she was in fact pregnant with Aidan's child for real.

Giving birth to daughter, Susie, nine months later, Eva made a deal with Toyah Battersby to pass the baby off as hers and Peter Barlow's through a faux surrogate.

The agreement fell through, Aidan sadly took his own life after suffering from depression, and Eva then moved to France to live with her mum and daughter.

Emmerdale: Robert and Chrissie

In 2015 Robert Sugden and Chrissie White were gearing up to tie the knot in a lavish ceremony.

The Home Farm beauty was set to marry the Dales bad boy and pretty much everyone was feeling optimistic about the day ahead.

But things took a turn for the worst when Leyla Harding arrived at the lavish home to warn Chrissie's dad Lawrence that nobody knew where Robert was, with him nowhere to be found.

Not many people knew at the time, but Robert had been having an affair with Aaron Dingle and had agreed to meet him at Wylie's Farm for one last goodbye on the morning of the wedding.

Robert told Aaron things were over between them, and Aaron then urged Robert to call off the wedding – but he refused.

Turning up late to the wedding, Robert did end up marrying Chrissie, but continued to see Aaron behind her back.

Discovering that Robert had been having an affair with Aaron, Chrissie threw him out and repeatedly attempted to get Robert to sign the divorce papers.
